Went down and took a trip out under the Golden Gate Bridge on one of the San Francisco Sailing Company boats from pier 39.

And, of course, Pier 39 is Pier 39:

And, of course, the primary attraction...

We then went up to the San Francisco Cable Car museum, gawked at the cool machinery moving winches for a bit.

Both of us can get completely entranced by the machinery.

We were trying to get a picture of the sort of transfer that Charlene's Dad might have tried to push the chad back into and hope the conductor wouldn't notice so he could score a free ride, back before the war.

The cable runs straight to the bearings underneath the steet, which means that through the turn the car has no power. So after the conductor brakes the car to let the passengers off and on, a few of 'em hop off to help him push the whole assembly over the hump.

And then down under the street some big bearings convert those four inline pulls to the direction for each of the lines

And then we headed down to Bernal Heights on the south end of the Mission to see the home that Charlene's dad grew up in.
